Swaziland is fast becoming home to entertainment, with a number of entertainment spots coming up and local artists with a hyped up level in their game. Now, with this significant change, there has been significant development in the local nightlife experience (i.e. clubbing as you may refer to it). Over the years, there used to be one or two chill out joints but this has changed, with Manzini being the hub of entertainment, we’ve seen a rise of Matsapha, Zulwini as well as Mbabane. The list covers the 10 most popular clubs and/or entertainment spots. PS: these aren’t listed in order of superiority of any sort.
Popularly known as ‘Nkandla’, Solanis is considered one of the big banger in the entertainment industry, having headlined some of the greatest shows in the Kingdom with something always going on, every weekend, starting from especially Thursday. With a shisanyama (braai area) and a restaurant that serves some of the best meals and their pizza hut is something to definitely visit. Apart from that, Solanis has an executive lounge that offers the highest level of royal treatment. Solanis has two main spots, the executive lounge located in the CBD of Mbabane and the Nkandla estate located here.
Owned and located at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha, Déjà vu hosts some of the country’s hottest entertainment shows. Their ‘STRICLY NO CAPS, SHORTS, VESTS & SANDALS’ policy, ensures it is an upmarket joint, being a classy event spot.
Set in the most developing town in Swaziland, eZuwlini; Pub’n’Grill offers some of the main nightlife entertainment in the valley. Set in the Gables Shopping Center in close proximity to some of high end hotels in Swaziland, Pub’n’Grill is a marvel.
4. The Vibe
A multi-dimensional funk and fun spot set out in Ngwane Park Township in Manzini with a vibey pub, a butchery with some of the best braai’d meat in town, and a rehearsal studio as well. The Vibe can be characterized as offering some of the best jazz music shows though with some of the best ‘kasi’ vibes, as it has a collection of fun-lovers from all over. What is amazing is that the joint doesn’t have an inside dance area large enough to cater for a large crowd, but that doesn’t serve as a limitation to the intensity of fun that could be experienced as there’s an outside chill section with a stage for live shows.
5. Piggs Peak Club
The small town of Piggs Peak (Spiki as it’s called in SiSwati), is one of the fast growing towns in the Kingdom. Characterized by being a pulp town, Piggs Peak is no stranger to fun as the local club from time to time hosts some of the best local and international artists.
A familiar name in the entertainment industry as it houses the largest event in the Kingdom and Africa’s Top Festival named by BBC, Bushfire. House on Fire is the top choice for most fun lovers with its diverse entertainment offerings. The past has seen it hosting the annual Total Gold Series which has been a groundbreaking event. House on Fire has apart from the entertainment, a vast array including a studio among other things. Located in the beautiful and natural Malkerns, House on Fire is closest to eZuwlini as well as Manzini town. House on Fire is also my number one venue for destination weddings in Swaziland, check it out here.
The concept of Umcwembe is a traditional eating dish made from wood (wooden planter), usually used to eat meat at a traditional home setting. The Umcwembe Braai is a chiilout spot located in the heart of Manzini, at the Fairview township, which is 5 minutes’ drive from the main town area. The spot offers not only some of the best braai’s meat in town but also offers nightlife entertainment especially Sunday chill sessions which bring together local and loyal fun lovers to be serenaded by house and hip hop from some of the best up and coming DJ’s.
Their ‘Siyangcebeleka’ tagline (loosely translated to ‘we chill’), surely precedes them. The newly established eMfuleni Lifestyle is making waves in the Kingdom by offering high end events and being a first of its kind joint. Characterized by delicious cuisines served by ever friendly staff, cultural and urban scenery, eMfuleni is a breathtaking sensation hosting some of the first of its kind events. Located in eZulwini, Somjalose to be precise, the place is set in a tranquil environment.
Newly launched in the chilled Mbabane, Ronde is known for its deep house sensation from it’s the unceasing deep house shows hosted. Located adjacent to the Limkokwing University of Technology in Sdvwashini and in a township, you can be sure to have the vibrant youngsters in the scenes, bringing an even more vibrant experience.
10. Coolest Experience (formerly White House)
With three separate dance floors, this newly revamped night club is home to the Manzini folks and tends to attract fun lovers from all over. Music served here ranges from House to all things Hip Hop, the variety of shows will surely bring the child in you.
Have you been to any of these joints? What’s you experience been like?
