So the other day I was seated and planning my next travel adventure and it dawned on me that we all, almost take the same destinations for our travels. This then inspired me to find some of the hidden gems in the country, the attractions less given attention yet they deserve it considering their level of awesome.
I’m sure you’ve checked out reasons why you should visit Swaziland by now and you have already determined to visit the beautiful Kingdom, here’s a list of attractions worth visiting when you finally make that dream trip.
1. EXECUTION ROCK
Also known as the Nyonyane Mountain, the Execution Rock is located and accessed through the famous Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. The peculiar and defining factor of this beautiful place is that it used to be a dwelling place for Bushmen and furthermore, where the Swazi Royalty graves are situated, both factors combined, making for a significant historic contribution to the attraction.
At the peak of 110 meters, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Mantenga waterfall, Sheba’s breasts and the Usushwana Valley alike, which are all seen at the Nyakato viewpoint of the rock.
2. TFUTJANA MOUNTAIN RESORT
Located at a community in the Manzini region, called KaPhunga, the resort offers breathtaking and experiences that skyrocket your adrenaline, making you all things excited and awesome. With magnificent hiking trails and caves which provide for a great attraction. Their caves are currently being turned into accommodation, which will become a lifetime experience, giving a unique lodging experience with historical significance, especially because the Swazi forefathers used to use caves as means for lodging. 3. NSANGWINI ROCK SHELTER
A monumental attraction, providing the most synoptic San art in the Kingdom, Nsangwini which is believed to have been started by the San people approximately 4000 years ago in the Highveld, for their own spiritual rituals as well as for recording on the rocks, iconic experiences in their present, everyday lives. Currently managed as a community project by the Nsangwini community, the on-site personnel guide you through the rocks, giving vivid explanation and descriptions of the paintings on the rocks.
4. MHLUMENI BUSH CAMP
Recently established, the Eco-tourism Mhlumeni Bush Camp located along the Swaziland/Mozambique borderline on top of the Lubombo mountains, provides for an epic view and experience of the amazing Lubombo landscape. On-site offers a variety of activities and attractions such as a waterfall, hiking, caves as well as camping. Apart from these, the camp can be characterized with the endless species of indigenous trees, which provide for a great learning point on visit. With all these variety of activities and attractions on site, the camp also provides lodging facilities which provide for a peculiar lodging experience.
